Refurbishment Update of the Old Crofton Community Centre Wing -
Only 6 weeks to go until 1st August ! – The date planned for us to re-occupy the wing
The works commenced at the end of February 2009 so we are now nearly 4 months through the scheduled programme. I am delighted to say the works are currently running to time, and we expect, as planned, to have the wing returned to us from Fareham Borough Council (FBC) on 1st August to enable the hiring groups from this wing to re-occupy their rooms. In addition we look forward to welcoming some new groups who have expressed an interest in hiring the refurbished facilities.
Most of our groups have remained on site in the temporary portacabins. These temporary buildings have served us well but I am sure all of us will be glad to get back to normal in our newly refurbished wing.
Works on the main roof are nearly complete and the small roof areas are now nearly completed. The wing will have a new heating system including boiler and ultra modern radiators and a new first floor boiler room. The ceilings have been lowered and sound proofed between the ground and first floor. New toilets are being installed on the ground and first floor including a baby changing facility. Some walls have been re-plastered and the wing will be completely redecorated.
The official Civic opening ceremony will take place on 11th September 2009 and we will be delighted to welcome Councillor Sean Woodward to unveil the commemorative plaque. The CCA, a completely self-funding registered charity, are more than happy to call the wing The Hammond Wing in dedication to the Hammond family who have supported the Stubbington and Hill Head community for many, many years.
