Noticeboard :: Update report for the refurbishment of the old CCC Wing - Feb 2009

REFURBISHMENT 2009 of the old CCA wing

STARTS NEXT WEEK!!! 1ST MARCH 2009

We held another meeting with the hirers of the old CCA wing on 3rd February 2009. At this meeting we were able to display a site plan in respect of the portacabins, and how they would be accessed. An update of the proposed works was given and we were very pleased to report everything is proceeding as scheduled.

As explained to all hirers and followed up in writing, any equipment left on site by any group/class must be in placed in stacking boxes for health and safety purposes. This will enable easier transportation of your equipment for the caretaking staff from the temporary storage area to the portacabins on a daily basis.

Parking will be a problem as the portacabins have taken up spaces in the adjoining car park but we ask for everyone to be patient whilst these essential building works are carried out. Everyone should be aware it is a Fareham Borough Council car park serving the local area, not just the Community Centre. Neither I, or the Community Association have any jurisdiction over it. Cars must be parked in the designated bays and FBC parking enforcement officers visit the car park regularly. So please do not risk getting a parking ticket!

We have spent the last few months clearing the old CCA wing ready for the hand-over on the 1st March to the contractors. This is now nearly complete. As with anything of this nature there are bound to be a few hiccups and ‘niggles’ as we go along. We have and will continue to find suitable solutions to any problems and ask you to work with us if you have any concerns. We are working closely with both, FBC’s and the contractor’s project managers to ensure we minimise disruption to the daily operating of the Community Centre.

Please be assured we will always put the Health, Safety and Welfare of the Centre’s users first.

So the planning stage is nearly over, we now look forward to the improvements to the old wing starting and developing over the next few weeks.

If you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact me or any member of the CCA staff.
