Noticeboard :: Review of the Murder Mystery Evening

* Murder Mystery Evening *

* Another successful fundraising evening organised by the CCA staff *

Nicky (the Centre Manager) had attended a Murder Mystery Evening one weekend and thought this would be a great idea for a fun, entertaining evening and to raise funds for the Community Centre (a registered charity).

She contacted Lee Players (one of the theatre groups who meet every week at the Centre) and who perform 3 plays a year (a total of 9 performances).

Peter Appleton (Secretary of Lee Players) very kindly agreed to write the plot involving 7 actors basing the intriguing fictional murder story on the old wing (Hammond Wing) of the Centre.

125 people eagerly awaited the plot to unfold on the evening of Friday 12th February. The actors (who were also unaware of ‘who dunnit’ until the very end), had to answer questions being fired at them as Jan McCready (Lee Players) hosted the evening.

During the interval everyone enjoyed a hot basket meal and compared notes with others at their table.

At the end of the evening everyone was asked to submit their decision on ‘Who Dunnit’ and what was their motive? Only three members of the audience managed to reach the correct conclusion and these names were placed into a hat to find the overall winner. The winner was congratulated by Nicky and awarded a medal and chocolates for his efforts.

A fantastic £533 was raised for the Centre’s funds (to purchase equipment), and everyone enjoyed a thoroughly pleasant, intriguing and mind boggling evening!

The staff have now raised nearly £1400 for the Centre during the last three months, and will run an Easter egg raffle and another fund raising Quiz night is planned for Friday 21st May 2010. Tickets will be available from the Centre’s reception (Tel: 01329 662821).

Nicky, Martin, Gary, Tony, John, Amanda, Val and Caroline (the CCA staff) would like to thank Lee Players for their help, the fantastic audience, and for the lovely compliments that have been received.

We are glad that you all enjoyed it - Maybe another? Yes, we are sure we will – watch this space!
